Assist. Prof. Mert Özarar
Mert Özarar has been active in the information security industry for the last 17 years. He is quite capable of viewing abstract and present cybersecurity concepts through a business lens. He has previously acted as the software engineer, project manager, and R&D officer at TurkTrust. He worked for Infosec Global Canada as a technical director in their global offices located in Toronto, Zurich, and Riyadh, respectively. He founded ISG's local joint-stock company and worked as its managing director with a twin role acting as local CTO. Starting from the very first day of 2020, he is the group leader of HAVELSAN's worldwide cybersecurity and defense operations. He is serving as a security researcher, validator, technical expert, responder, business developer and lead for global accounts. Besides, he is one of the pioneers of the digital signatures, quantum-resistance and 5G security in the region.
He has graduated from METU Computer Engineering and Mathematics departments with High Honor's double major program. He has further obtained his two successive M.Sc. degrees from Computer Engineering and Cryptography departments. He also holds a dissertation on Computer Security and Applied Cryptography from METU. Mert has several publications and book chapters on Information Security. He is also an assistant professor at the Computer Engineering Department of the University of Turkish Aeronautical Association.
Assist. Prof. Ahmet Serkan Karataş
Ahmet Serkan KARATAŞ completed his undergraduate, graduate and doctorate degrees in METU Computer Engineering Department in 1998, 2000 and 2010, respectively. He worked as a research assistant at METU between 1998-2002. Later, he worked as Software Development Director in Aselsan and as a Software Engineer in SPAC and ERA. He became the founding partner of K&K Technologies, KaVIS Technologies and TorkSis Makine. He worked as a lecturer at different universities. Since June 2020, he has been a faculty member at the Ankara Science University Software Engineering department. His academic interests are variability management, feature modelling, and complexity theory.
Haldun GÖKTAŞ received his BSc and MSc degrees in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Hacettepe University in 1987 and 1990 respectively and PhD degree in Electronics Engineering from Erciyes University in 1996. He worked as an engineer in PTT (Now Türk Telekom) between 1987-1989. And, he worked as a research assistant at Selcuk University Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department between 1989-1992 and Gazi University Electronic Computer Department between 1992-1996. He worked as a lecturer at Gazi University Electronic Computer Education Department between 1996 and 2011. He was an Assoc. Prof. and a Professor at Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University between 2011 and 2020. He is currently Professor of Electrical and Electronics Engineering with Ankara Bilim University. His research interests are mainly fiber optics, optical fiber sensors, and fiber lasers.
Prof. Dr. Taner ALTUNOK
He completed his undergraduate and graduate education in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at METU and graduated in 1987 with the title of Mechanical Engineer M.Sc. He completed his doctorate education which he started in Gazi University Mechanical Engineering Department in 1988 and received the title of Doctor in 1994. He became Associate Professor in 1997 and was appointed to his professorship in 2005. He retired from four-year post at the National Defense University as the Directorate of Defense Sciences by his own will in 2009. He served as a lecturer at various universities, as the Head of Mechanical Engineering Department, Directorate of Science Institute, Vice Rector, Dean of Engineering Faculty, Founding Rector. He is currently working at Ankara Bilim University, Faculty of Engineering, Department of Industrial Engineering.
Asst. Prof. İlker GÜÇLÜ
Dr. Güçlü received his Bachelor's, Master's and doctoral degrees at Boğaziçi University from the department of Industrial Engineering. Between 2016 and 2020, he worked as a full-time faculty member at Istanbul Şehir University Industrial Engineering Department. In addition to his strong academic studies, he is an experienced management consultant. After receiving his undergraduate degree, he worked as a senior consultant at TÜSSİDE-TUBITAK, Turkey Industry Management and Administration Institute. In 2011, he founded Optimum Planning, which offers consultancy services and professional training programs focused on increasing corporate performance. It provides services to institutions from different industries and sectors in the fields of Optimum Planning, Demand Planning and Forecasting, Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP), Production Planning, Detail Scheduling, Stock and Logistics Planning, Product Development and Quality Management. Güçlü is married and has two children. Dr. Güçlü's interests are Supply Chain Optimization, Forecasting and Pricing Techniques, Production Planning and Detail Scheduling, Mathematical Programming and Heuristic Algorithms.
R. A. Merve Işıl Peten
Merve Işıl graduated from TED University Computer Engineering department in 2017. She continues her master studies at Dokuz Eylül University at the same department. She completed her internships at Havelsan Ehsim and TAI. She started to work as a research assistant in Ankara Science University since June 2020.
Asst. Prof. Dr. Ercüment KARAPINAR
After completing his under graduate degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering in 1990 from Ministry of Defense University, he gained his Master of Science degree in 1995 at Naval Post Graduate School CA, USA. He finished his PhD from Hacettepe University Electric and Electronic Engineering in 2007. He has been Electronic advisor to the Ambassador of Turkish Permanent Delegation to NATO between 2012 and 2015 years. He has served for 28 years and retired from Head of Cost and Price Evaluation Department of Ministry of Defense in 2018. After retirement he has worked as Asst. Prof. Dr. at Hasan Kalyoncu University Electric and Electronic Engineering Department for two years. He has also been Vice Dean during this period. He has international, national conferences, paper and technical studies. He has also international PRINCE2 Project Management and ITL certificates. He can speak English and French. His research areas are electromagnetic scattering, bioengineering applications, antenna applications, unmanned air vehicles.
İsmail COŞKUN received his BSc in Electrical Engineering from Ankara Higher Technical Teacher School in 1967, his first MSc in University of Wisconsin, USA in 1978, his second MSc in University of Manchester, England in 1982, and his PhD in Gazi University at Electrical and Electronics Engineering department in 1987. In 1974 he worked as a research assistant in the Department of Electrical Engineering of Ankara Higher Technical Teacher School, as a Faculty Member in the same place in 1978, as Instructor in Gazi University at Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering in 1982, as Assistant Professor in the same university in 1988, as Associate Professor in the same department in 1991. He worked at the same university as Professor in 2000. He is currently working in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering of Ankara Bilim University.
Asst. Prof. Çiğdem SICAKYÜZ
Dr. Çiğdem Sıcakyüz graduated from the Department of Industrial Engineering from the University of Osmangazi in Turkey, in 2001. She holds her Master of Science in Production Engineering from Bremen University in Germany, In 2009. She obtained her PhD in Industrial Engineering from Çukurova University in Turkey in 2019 and her research involved Change Management and Resistance to Information Technology. She joined Ankara Bilim University as a lecturer in 2020. Her research interests include Operations Management, Lean Production, Quality Engineering, Work and Process Analysis, Change Management, Project Management and Artificial Learning.
Asst. Prof. Yavuz Selim ÖZDEMİR
Yavuz Selim ÖZDEMİR received the B.S. degree from Başkent University, Industrial Engineering Department, Ankara, Turkey in 2004 and M.S. degree in Computer Engineering from Başkent University in 2008, respectively. In 2013, he received his Ph.D. in Modelling and Design of Engineering Systems from Atılım University. Between 2005 and 2020, he worked at three different university. He is currently working at Department of Industrial Engineering in Ankara Science University. His research areas are multi criteria decision making, fuzzy logic, intellectual capital and heuristic optimization.
She graduated from Manisa Celal Bayar University Industrial Engineering Department in 2014. While continuing her undergraduate education, she worked as a volunteer intern in many different industries. After her undergraduate education, she stepped into the profession as 'Productivity Process Manager' and after working for 1 year, she continued at another company in the position of 'Production Planning Engineer'. During this period, she completed her master's degree at Balıkesir University, Institute of Science, Department of Industrial Engineering. She started to work as a Research Assistant at a university Industrial Engineering Department in 2017, and after 3 years she moved to Ankara Bilim University in the same position. She still continues her doctorate studies in Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa Graduate Education Institute, Department of Industrial Engineering.
Assoc. Prof. Hakan Çağlar
Hakan Çağlar received his bachelor’s degree from Istanbul Technical University, Electric Electronic Faculty in 1984, and completed his master’s program at NYU Polytechnic University in 1988. In 1991, he earned his PhD degree from New Jersey Institute of Technology. As the primary focus of his doctorate, Hakan Çağlar worked on video encoding and compression algorithms, wavelet transformations and digital TV applications regarding video communications.
In 1993, Hakan Çağlar was granted his title as Associate Professor in Bosphorous University. He worked as the senior researcher in TÜBİTAK MAM Information Technologies Institute and gave lectures of image and video processing and computer vision at Bosphorus University and Istanbul Technical University between the years 1992 – 1996. Following this, he became the Software Director and then Deputy Director General (Software and Information Technologies) at HAVELSAN A.Ş. from 1996 to 2007. During this time, he developed large scale information systems and products for the defense industry and managed major projects for the e-government application system. Later in 2007/2008, he worked for Associate Professor at TOBB ETÜ Computer Engineering Department, and shortly after functioned as the General Manager in telecommunication and defense industry fields. Hakan Çağlar has authored 11 articles published in international refereed journals and was referred to 469 times. Nearly 40 of his articles were published to national and international congresses.
Assoc. Prof. Ender Sevinç
Ender Sevinç received his bachelor’s degree from Military Academy Electronics Department in 1991, his master’s and Doctorate degrees from Middle East Technical University Computer Engineering Department in 2000 and 2009, respectively. He worked for a long time for government and in various national/international private firms. Then, he then returned to his academic life in 2017 and served as an Asst. Prof. in a foundation university. As a result of his studies, he was promoted to Associate Professor in 2020 and was tenured in Ankara Science University in the same year. He still continues his academic life in Computer Engineering Department of the same university. His interest and publication areas are query optimization, machine learning and algorithms.
Assist. Prof. Yüksel Arslan
Yüksel Arslan received his B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the Department of Electric/Electronics Engineering in Turkish Naval Academy, Middle East Technical University and Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University, respectively. He worked as engineering naval officer in Turkish Naval Forces until 2001. Between 2001 – 2003 he worked as software engineer at Mobile and Internet Technologies group and as computer network design and project engineer at VIS Data Communications Systems Inc. Between 2003 – 2017 he worked at Mikes Microwave and Electronics Systems Inc. as senior information systems engineer. In 2018 he founded Soundlabai Inc., at METU Technopark by taking support from Tübitak, as part of 1512 program. Soundlabai is developing algorithms which detect hazardous sound events and integrating these algorithms to video surveillance systems. He is working as a faculty member of Software Engineering Department of Ankara Science University since June 2020.
Yüksel Arslan’s research interests are, deep learning, digital audio signal processing, computer networks and parallel programming.
Res. Asst. Mert ÖTENEL
Mert ÖTENEL graduated from Çukurova University Electrical and Electronics Engineering and has an average of 3.65 (4) according to European Credit Transfer System. He finished his department with third place and with high honor degree. He worked selflessly until today and completed successful internship periods. His first internship is in İskenderun, Atlas Enerji Elektrik Üretim A.Ş.. His second internship is completed at Auto & Aero Technologies Sp.z.o.o. located in Poland. As part of this internship, he successfully completed the Wireless Communication Network project. He continues his master education in Çukurova University Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Moreover, there is a "Simple Processor Design" with FPGA as a postgraduate project and the scope of the undergraduate graduation project on "CAN (Controller Area Network)". There is also an Array Antenna Design project using MATLAB program. He is currently working at Ankara Bilim University Electrical Electronics Engineering Department. His academic interests are wireless communication network systems and electronic warfare.
Asst. Prof. Hasan Umut AKIN
Hasan Umut Akın, has received his BSc in Electrical-Electronics Engineering at the Turkish Land Force Academy in 1986. He received his MSc. from Gazi University in 2004 and Ph.D. degree in Industrial Engineering from Atilim University in 2015. From 1992 to 2011, he served in Turkish General Staff, Ministry of Defense and Turkish Army as analyst, project officer, team leader and branch head and took part in several decision support, modeling and simulation, technology management and information systems projects. Between 1999 and 2000, he worked as a researcher in Canadian Department of National Defense, Directorate of Strategic Human Resources on strategic human resources modeling using system dynamics. He started his academic career in University of Turkish Aeronautical Association in 2015. He is working in Industrial Engineering Department of Ankara Science University as an Assistant Professor.
